Preventative Diagnostics Education

Help more pet owners schedule care and say yes to testing before the visit begins.

Otto’s Preventative Diagnostics Automations help Flow clinics educate adult and senior pet owners about the value of routine bloodwork — automatically.

Across 4,700 U.S. practices, only 12% of wellness visits include bloodwork. The gap usually isn’t client willingness — it’s helping pet owners understand the value quickly enough during a busy appointment.

This no-cost program includes two campaign types: one for pets who already have a wellness visit scheduled, and one for pets who are overdue for care with no appointment on the calendar. Both are designed to reach pet owners at the right moment, encourage action, and make preventive diagnostics easier to discuss. Free to clinics on Flow. Live in about a week. How it Works

Moment 1 – Wellness Visit Education

Help more pet owners opt in before the appointment.

When an adult or senior pet has a wellness appointment scheduled, Otto sends one educational message before the visit. The message explains why routine bloodwork matters and lets the pet owner indicate interest before they walk through the door.

Best for:
Clinics that want to increase diagnostic opt-in during already-scheduled wellness visits.

Pet owner action:
Reply YES if they are interested in testing, or SKIP to include diagnostics at the visit.

Team experience:
Your team is notified in Flow when a pet owner opts in, so they know who is arriving ready to discuss diagnostics.

Moment 2 – Lapsed Diagnostics Outreach

Bring overdue adult and senior pets back in for care.

For adult and senior pets who are overdue for diagnostics and have not been in for 6+ months and do not have an appointment scheduled, Otto sends proactive outreach encouraging the client to schedule an appointment.

The message explains that routine bloodwork is recommended for pets their age and highlights the value of detecting kidney, liver, and thyroid changes early.

Best for:
Clinics that want to re-engage lapsed patients and create more preventive care visits.

Pet owner action:
Schedule an appointment and indicate interest in testing.

Team experience:
More overdue pets returning to care and more preventive diagnostics completed.

STEP 1

Otto identifies the
right pets

Flow uses appointment and patient logic to identify adult and senior pets who are a fit for diagnostic education.

That may include pets with an upcoming wellness visit or pets who are overdue for care and do not currently have an appointment scheduled.

STEP 2

Otto sends the right message

Pet owners receive one simple educational message by SMS and email.

For upcoming visits, the message encourages them to opt in to testing before the appointment. For lapsed pets, the message encourages them to schedule a visit and consider preventive diagnostics.

STEP 3

Pet owners take action

Depending on the campaign, pet owners can opt in, skip for now, schedule an appointment, or let the clinic know they have switched providers.

There is no card, no payment, and no commitment collected before the visit.

STEP 4

Your team sees the response in Flow

When a pet owner responds or opts in, your team is notified in Flow so they know who is interested and what action to take next.

Your doctor still confirms the recommendation during the appointment.

Why It Matters

Preventive diagnostics are clinically valuable for adult and senior pets, but they are not always discussed consistently during wellness care.

Even when pets seem healthy, routine bloodwork can uncover clinically relevant findings:

1 in 5 adult pets may have internal changes not visible during a physical exam.
2 in 5 senior dogs have clinically relevant findings on routine bloodwork.
3 in 5 senior cats have clinically relevant findings on routine bloodwork.

The issue is not disease rarity. It is detection timing.

Reach clients before the appointment

Reduce pressure on your team

Your staff does not have to turn every diagnostic conversation into a cold ask during a busy visit.
